Health Policies
Little Jungle will contact you and request that you pick up your child within one hour if your child exhibits the following:
Temperature:
-Maintaining a temperature of 100.4 degrees F (taken under arm or on forehead) or more for more than 60 minutes (1 hour).We will not be able to accept your child back into the Center until he/she has gone without fever for 24 hours without any fever-reducing medications. Please remember that although Tylenol and other medications may keep the fever down, your child may still be contagious and may therefore contribute to deteriorating the health of other children and educators.
Excessive bleeding or injury:
-This is considered a serious injury and we would follow protocol outlined under our Emergency First Aid/Serious Accident/Injury Report.
Crying and/or complaining:
-If your child is crying more than what is usual for him/her and does not seem to be responding in a normal manner that is characteristic of himself/herself, you will be contacted.
A physician’s note is required in order for them to return to the Center, if your child presents any of the following:
**A note from a physician releasing your child to return to the child care environment must be on a prescription slip or office letter head. It must include your child’s name, what illness he/she has recovered from, when your child can return to the child care environment and the physician’s signature.**
Excessive, Severe Diarrhea:
-This is very important in regards to the hydration of infants and can indicate infection, even if there are no other signs of illness. This is described as liquid consistency with no solid pieces.
Strep throat, measles, chicken pox or any other communicable disease:
-These illnesses/diseases are highly contagious.
“Pink Eye”:
-This infection is highly contagious. Your child will not be allowed to return to the Center until a physician has released your child to return to the child care environment. Also, all rest items must be taken home and washed.
Rash:
-This does not include a mild diaper rash already known to you.
Excessive Vomiting:
This symptom is indicative of several medical problems and/or infection.
Head Lice:
-The Center will contact you and request you pick up your child immediately and take him/her to be treated. You are responsible to notify the Center is your child has head lice. This will assist the Center in clearing the pests in a quicker, more efficient manner and also help to limit the spread to other children and educators. Please inform the Center, in writing, of what action(s) you have taken with your child to ensure a lice-free head.
